Quinceañera Requirements and Guidelines
The Quinceañera and her parents must contact the parish office at least 6 months prior to the event. After all the required paperwork had been submitted, the date and time will be confirmed.
Required Sacraments
- The Quinceañera must have already received Baptism, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation. Please provide a copy of the Confirmation certificate. If she has not yet received confirmation, please provide a letter from the parish she is registered for classes. She must be registered and actively participating and in line to receive the sacrament.
- The Quinceañera and her family must attend Mass on a regular basis.
- It is recommended that the Quinceañera be involved in the Youth Group.
The Quinceañera CANNOT be married, engaged or living common law union, be a mother, or pregnant.
For the Celebration
- Quinceañeras are not celebrated during the season of Lent.
- Celebrations are scheduled on Saturdays at 10:00 am, 11:00 am, or NOON. Celebrations can be scheduled on Fridays but are dependent on the availability of the Church and the priest.
- The Liturgy Planning sheet must be submitted to the coordinator at least one month prior to the scheduled Mass.
- All involved in the Mass must be on time and present for the rehearsal at the scheduled time.
- All involved with Mass must be present at least ½ hour prior to the Mass on the day of the celebration. The Mass will start on time. Any delay will result in not having a full Mass.
- The Quinceañera, her family, and friends must receive the sacrament of Reconciliation prior to the celebration so that they may receive Holy Communion during the Mass. This should be done prior to the Mass and or rehearsal. Confessions will not be available at the rehearsal or before the Mass, so please plan accordingly.
During the celebration
- Proper reverence while inside of the church should be observed at all times.
- Proper behavior should be shown while on the campus of Our Lady of the Valley.
- Only the parents or godparents of the Quinceañera my walk alongside her as she enters and leaves the Church. At no time should she have an escort.
- If she has a court, they may enter before her. Please limit to 7 women/girls and 7 men/boys.
- The Quinceañera may receive the following gifts during the Mass: Ring, Medal, Bible, Rosary and Flowers for the Blessed Mother.
Dress Code
- The dress should be an appropriate color. She may not wear a black dress.
- The dress of the Quinceañera and of those in her court must have shoulders & chest area covered in full and fall below the knee.
- The head piece must be simple.
- Invited guests should be aware of the dress code. Those wearing revealing clothing may be escorted out of the church.
- Men cannot wear hats inside of the Church building. They should not be wearing saggy or hanging pants.
- If you have to ask …then don’t wear it.
Decorations
- Decorations must be simple
- No tape or anything that will leave a mark may be used on the pews.
- Any flower arrangements brought to the church or bouquets must be fresh.
- Decorations and any remnants of them must be removed before leaving the Church. Any decorations or personal items left behind will be discarded.
Music for the Mass
- All music must be live. No recorded music is allowed
- The parish does not provide music. It is up to the parents to provide musicians (music groups/ mariachi) that know the Mass.
- Only appropriate music can be played. Please ask if you have questions about certain songs.
Photography
- Photographers must check in with the coordinator prior to the Mass so that they can be made aware of their restrictions.
- If video recording, they are not allowed to pan or show the crowd and must be stationary.
Cost
- $500.00 (as of May 1, 2026. Any Quinceañeras that were already scheduled prior to this date will remain at the prior cost)
- A non-refundable deposit of $100.00 is due at the time of scheduling the date.
- The remaining $400.00 is due 30 days prior to the scheduled date.
